Linda Anderson's "A Kind of Wild Justice: Revenge in Shakespeare's Comedies" is an seminal study of an important dramatic genre given too little notice in the past. Much has been written about revenge tragedy, over the years, but the concept of revenge was a heated sermon topic of the time and the subject was celebrated in a variety of early-modern dramatic genres, including comedy, where someone is always seeking retribution for some real or imagined slight. Anderson's book is a fine introduction, with close readings of selected examples and a usefull survey of many other plays, in passing. Every Shakespeare buff will want read this book!
